yeah, at this point, i think weight in the right places will help me ... besides, the sub and the spare come out for the track.

Looks good, but why add all that weight with the car audio?

that's how I got mine if need be but I haven't figured out what to do- I have 2Audiobahn 12" subs and a Kenwood amp but I don't know if I want to put them in the evo- I get too much attention without them, if I was booming down the street I'd get more tickets. Besides, I would have to redo the entire stereo system-

PS I am still paying on that ticket that I got from the drive back from the Raleigh meet- the lawyer couldn;t get me out of it and $400 later I got the insurance shock

im sitting around 500whp... you dont really notice any weight. my car doesnt track itself 24/7/365 ...... she pretty much hits the track once a month or less for a few 1/4 mile passes. Subs are removable, spare is removable... battery, tray and amp arent very heavy. my meth setup behind the battery probably weighs as much as my spare.... im sure im ok

my subs are tuned extremely low... my system is more for clarity than power. I run my mids and highs off of the stock amp and i run my subs on the eclipse amp which if i remember right isnt but 500w at 2 ohms and i have my subs wired for 4. Bass stays turned down to keep her from becoming boomy unless i want it to be.

Does your battery will not drain out easily with your amps and subs???

Very nice setup... will putting an airbox back in benefit you any or are you just looking to have a unique setup?

no, not at all....

1 - i rarely play the system with the car not on or me not driving so the alternator is doing its job keeping the battery charged.

2 - its not a large system at all, and i rarely play it loud, so there is not much drain on the car.... but, that is why the 1fd capacitor is there... it keeps the car from seeing any significant voltage drops should the bass hit very hard.

i have had some pretty intense and powerful car audio systems in the past and i have never had the need to use more than 1 battery. Although, i could have with the last setup i guess.... but the car was fine without it but you could see the lights dim a bit if i was really on the system. With that one, i had 3 12's, a 1500w low amp, an 800w high amp, a screen, you name it, it was in the car..... with this setup, its clarity based so there isnt as much power being used.

id think it would benefit some because of the air being cooler as well as we will be able to direct port the air into the box to give the intake charge a cooler air to start with.... It will also not be constrictive because we are going to use as much of the open area to make the box so inside shouldnt be too constricted at all. Then there is the aesthetic look of the engine bay. I really like the fact the battery is gone, but hate the fact that you can see all of the harness wires... so i will be happier in the end with how it looks for sure. Then when we are done building, we will have the intake box powdercoated... probably black or silver.

i figure we might as well since everything under my hood regarding power is fabricated by us. My buddy made the manifold himself, we made the 4" intake, we custom ordered the turbo with our own mods to it. The lines and fittings (thanks to CBRD) were put together by us. The regulator has its own custom mounting bracket we made as well as we made the stainless lines that are running the fuel. There is nothing on this car that was installed by someone else, it was me or our crew here that has built and tuned this car... and she is a beast

soooo, long story short, call me the test mule for our intake box project

haha well if you've had success with everything else, why not give it a shot! and I agree about the aesthetics of it in terms of all the open space

Maybe the battery in the back will get you that elusive .2 hp?

Seriously, nice work. Looks clean. Can't wait to see what you guys build for the intake system

its so easy to install mods in these cars... its so difficult to make them look good or perfect afterwards. There are quite a few evo engine bays that look amazing, but they are full of aftermarket stuff that cover all of the bare spots. CBRD's looked really nice before he sold his setup... Im after that something different than everyone else without sacrificing performance or looks.
