I forbid eating in the Evo. Only drinking allowed is H20 - and only if absolutely necessary!

Yeah, I simply swapped out the incandescent bulbs with LED's. Very easy mod. I did the same for the cigarette lighter.

any pointers on which size LED's you went with, or even a write up?

You need to buy #74 size LED's for use in the HVAC unit, ashtray and cigarette lighter. I bought mine from Autolumination.com found here:

http://autolumination.com/74.htm

Another good place to buy them from is SuperBrightLEDs.com found here:

http://www.superbrightleds.com/cgi-b...gi?product=CAR

You can use either the 74-x Wedge Base LED Bulb or the 74-xHP Wedge Base LED Bulb that they sell.

The 74-xHP's are nice and bright, but they do not have a wide enough angle to properly light the HVAC. They have much narrower beam than the standard 74-x. You can use the wider style LED's such as the Tri-Power 3 LED Bulb, but that will require you to widen the holes on the plastic HVAC ring.

Depending on what style is shipped out to you, you may have to taper in a portion of the LED in order for it to properly fit into the base (I used a Dremel with a small sanding bit). Also, LED's are polarized. So if you install it and it doesn't come on, simply rotate the LED 180 degrees.

Here is a link to one of the write-ups that shows in depth how to take apart the console and replace the bulbs:
