First off, what kind of "crappy oil" did you use to do this? How do you know it was contributed to the oil?
Second, looking at the pictures you posted, I see you have not had any machine work done, you just scuffed up the deck of the block with a 3M pad and ran a ball hone down the bores. The deck wouldn't be such a big deal had you chosen to run a composite gasket, but I see you are using a metal job. Spraying it down with copper spray (which you did) is not a sure-fire way to make it seal, unless the block is re-decked at a machine shop. Did you even check the deck with a machinist's straight edge?
