Shipping damage?

I put my 1 week old car on ramps today and looked underneath. I found some minor front end damage. It looks like it might have happened as the car was driven off the delivery truck, but that is just a guess. You can't see it until you get underneath. Do others have the same pattern? If so, it would make me think it happens when it comes off the truck. If nobody else has it, my dealer did it moving the car around.

Looks like it hit a parking curb to me. Do they have those at the dealership where it was sold from?

no way you will blame that on the dealer now...

you should have looked the car over completely before you took delivery...

Well it would be a little hard to spot during delivery. I would have had to lay on the ground. The dealer has a big speed bump in his parking lot. He also put it on one of those display ramps. They look like they might be more steep than a delivery truck.

This is the same dealer who delivered it to me with 47 psi in the tires. I visited him today and spoke with the service manager. This was before I noticed the damage. About the air pressure, "sorry about that, we were in a hurry to prep it".

What is behind the black plastic panel? Anything I should worry about?

Mine had 4 paint scatches and I had them write up a credit slip for them to fix it. I was shocked they didn't notice it (or just didn't tell me), but what do you expect form car dealers.

I got my dealer to fix a gash in the paint and some chips about 2 days after I got it. I did a good look over before taking it home, but nothing compared to the look over it gets when you're detailing it...which is when I noticed this. They fixed it with no problem.

Took it to the dealer. They are going to repaint it, which seems reasonable. Hope they don't get overspray on the nearby components.

The repair will be free, at least it will be free when it eventually happens. I went down this morning for the work and waited 2 hours but the gypsy body guy didn't show up. This dealership doesn't have a body shop (same as plenty of other dealers) and they hire a guy to do minor stuff on new cars. He only works at this dealer 2 days a week and didn't show up for work today. I'll post a pic after the fix.

If I continue to get the run around, I'll mask it off real good and try it myself out of a rattlecan. There isn't much risk since I can always remove the lower section and get it repainted at a shop if I screw it up.
