Paint job prices??????

I need a new paint job. i got minor scratches and some rust problems. i want a good paint job but i also want to find a good price. I can get maaco to do it for $500 but i here they suck. I talked to another guy that will do it for $2000. what should i spend to get a good paint job without over paying?

It depends, are you just redoing the same color? are you repainting the door jams? under the hood? and under the trunk? Or just the outside?

2K sounds about right if you want things done right, you maybe able to get it a little lower. I've heard the same thing about Maaco.

2000 for a stock repaint job?
That is rediculous! You can get a bad *** custom paint job for that much. I work closely with people in body shops and painting and no one would charge that much for a stock job. I would say no more than 1000

1000? are you kidding? i just repainted my GF's car and the materials were almost 1000 dollars at cost plus 10 per cent. and it was straight black right out of the can plus sandpaper and primer and clearcoat. I understand that i am way up north and stuff is substantially more expensive than down south but i wouldnt do a back yard paint job for 1000 bucks let alone a nice one.

I got to keep looking around then. It would be helpful if anyone could send me to a shop in the boston area that has a good reputation.
