Made my own antenna today....

So I took out my radio a few weeks ago, and along with it came the speakers and the antenna. It looked really lame with no antenna on, but I refused to put it back on because it looked just as bad.

So I came up with this. I cut a stock antenna from a different vehicle and chopped the end off. Then I put some epoxy on, and after it dried i sanded down the end so it looked round and smooth. Then I primed it with Grey primer, and painted it black with glossy vinyl paint. The thing is about 1 inch long. It doesn't work as an antenna but it looks much better than having that long thing on, or having nothing at all. Good fix if you don't want to run a radio me thinks.

It's too loud and I have a radio of a different kind, it goes vroom, shwooosh, pssst. (only makes those 3 notes lol)

I prefer to hear the car working. The ora I am going for is "race car" and race car's don't have radios.

I like the gauges where the radio was, and my other vehicle (2004 Ford Ranger) has a complete system. 3 amps, 2 subs, yadayah..

Besides, I bought my car brand new and it was the last IX around (fully loaded MR) - I had to drive to the next state to get it. I refused to get that heavy and slow X and was hooked on a new IX

Thats one thing I'll save for my next car (hopefully 84-87 Corolla)

I've eliminated the sound deadener that I could get to easily (under the seats, and carpets) and it saved 15 lbs.

i know what you mean... i dont even use the radio even though i have one... i always find myself turning the volume down or just turn it off completely.. in my talon and in all my friends boosted cars... its a funny habit i guess..

Do you mean the tar on the floor panel or the thick rubber mats? If its the tar can you please tell me your method of removing them?

Thanks!
