That's a sweet bike. Why is it a single speed?

oh cool i ride a track bike/fixed gear too! for the record, it's not a "tri" bike, it's for velodrome track racing.
word of caution: despite how cool they look, those wheels are notorious for shattering/disintegrating on you, and can seriously hurt you when it happens. that's why they are avail. so cheap.
here's my track bike:

here's what my track bike did to me once:

ride safe!

You guys and your Track Bikes are reminding me of "Breaking Away". Do you ride around singing Italian songs and get tagged as a Cutter?

think about what you just asked...

They are single speeds, that means your gas pedal is your brake pedal in reverse.

a lot of people think it has a coaster (backpedal) brake, but this is no the case.
"fixed gear" literally means just that- no coasting. no brakes. pedals always moving unless the bike is still or you are skidding. that and resistence is how we slow and stop.

I got 3 super bikes (slightly bigger then the pocket bike shown above). 2 of them are 110cc and 1 is a 125cc (motor swap). They got a track here to race them on (iron rock raceway on the last saturday of every month). I should get some AMS stickers and put them on, this way i can improve my lap times. Competition will no longer exist!!
