dam, a lot of work, but it pays off...

 

Actually that guide shows a huge waste of time....6-7 hours with 80grit to sand a cast part! HAHAHAHAHAHA!

There is a much, much more efficient way to polish cast parts like that and achieve an equal or better finished product. I know. I have done it to a lot of parts:

so whos gonna do this to some wheels? maybe even just use a dremel to do it..our wheels are aluminum right or are the cast aluminum does it matter.. i might try this soon.need to find another set of wheels!

Wheels are not hard, just time consuming. Here are some that I did on my Conquest. I had about 4 hours in to each wheel, maybe more.

The work is nice..but using hand tools (files and hand sanding) is really going to slow you down. You could cut the total time down to about a hour just by using air grinders and such.

 

Yea, the hard and time consuming part was sanding the clear coat. I could have used a chemical paint stripper, but I didn't want to mess up the factory gray painted inner spokes.

 

why couldn't i find this thread when i was porting and polishing my hotside lol. It looks hella nice.
