Rain Spots

Anyone tried to get rain spots off of their paint before? I just bought mine (100 miles) and half the car has rain spots on it and the other half doesn't. Anyways I tried some Zanio, Z1 and Z2 but had no luck. Anyone have any better suggestions?

You didn't put Zaino on top of the rain spots did you!!?? If you did, then you need to strip the Zaino off the surface before you can get those water spots off. If you don't have Zaino on there then just use some good car wash solution to wash off the spots.

I did wash it with the Zaino car wash before I applied the wax. I'm thinking I need some sort of wax cleaner (abrasive) to get it off??

This is a good question - when I move back to Cali, I will need to get all this VA rain off my car. The solution right now is to get a full detail done (clay bar, etc.)...

My yellow EVO will show the drainage pattern from water runoff and it doesn't come off with plain car wash stuff. Same thing happened on a yellow turbo Beetle I used to have. The embedded stain comes off easy with regular car wax. Never tried Zaino.

I'm not sure what they use to strip off the Zaino, I heard that even Dawn couldn't do the job well. You can try asking on Zaino's website.

I think the clay bar will take it back off but I'll have to do some experimentation on the rain spots still.

If you tried to use zaino to remove the water spots, you basically just sealed in those stains...contrary to the name "polish" in "zaino car polish", there are ZERO abrasives in the polymer thus no polishing capabilities...

the dawn wash prior to the application of zaino is to remove any oils for zaino to bond onto the paint surface....dawn will at most weaken zaino, but not remove it...same goes for using a claybar...the best bet to remove zaino is a 1:1 isopropyl alcohol :distilled water...or any light abrasive or "real" polish such as 3M Swirl Mark Remover or Meg's #9...

regarding water spots...many have tried and successfully removed them using white distilled vinegar....a cheap and easy first alternative...it not, the next bet would be to polish them out...

hope this helps...

White distilled vinegar..... Man for some reason that just doesn't sound good for paint. However I'll try almost anything to get them off. Thanks guys.

remember, if you applied zaino over those stains, you have to remove the zaino layer first before you can even get to the water stains...

That's what I've been doing on all my cars to get rid of stains/spots

- wash with P21S Total wash, wipe dry
- detail with Pinnacle clay bar with Meguiars Quick detailer as lubricant
- rince, wipe dry
- Apply Meguiars carnauba wax #26

rain spots come off easy with Detailers Pride abrasive cleaner

I work at a Mitsu dealer- here's what you get-Auto Armor. It's a 3 stage teflon coating for your car. Its only available through new car dealers, but it's the best stuff you can get. If your car has under 5K miles at time of application you get a 5 year unlimited mile warranty against water spots, acid rain damage, bird dropping, chalking, fading, tree sap, industial fallout, basically any damage from the elements, and they will paint any damaged area. Not to mention that it leaves your finish as soft as a baby's ***.

Thanks guys. If the rain holds off this weekend hopefully the spots will be a thing of the past. Every little thing like this kills a black paint job.

Well guys I got those spots off. I washed the car with Dawn and then used 3M Rubbing Compound. It needed a lot of elbo grease since I didn't have a buffer, but it's all gone. Now I'll have to reapply the wax to seal it all bak in. Thanks for your help guys.
