I also did this sort of thing this weekend, but a bit more in depth than you did....I will post pics up later,
I seperated my housings, painted the amber on the inside, then I lightly smoked the outside and put a clear on them. I need to buff the clear after it settles for a week or so. Turned out pretty damn good. Headlights are next...

Yeah i dont know about that vinyl. Kinda does look orange not amber! My vinyl was kinda orange and once on the car looks amber, but im not sure about that vinyl from ebay!!
