Spent some time playing around in my shop and created a little prototype. Please disregard the rough edges (I plan to recreate it in aluminum.)

Benefits:
1. sits slightly higher than stock to allow more airflow through airduct.
2. mounts from bottom holes instead of top, in order to fit closer to bumper.
3. Notice nothing rubbing against bumper (the stock mount leaves marks in the paint).
4. cheaper than beatrush kit.
5. keeps me entertained on a Saturday.

Not too bad at all. I had gotten my shop to move mine to a similar location but I think they just re purposed the stock bracket.

 

when you make the other one out of metal you should mount onto your bumper with small ajustable (spring maybe) hunges to get a little downward tilt going on. i'm not a huge JDM guy but i gotta give them props for their fold away licence brackets.
