Thanks for the pics. Something I've always wondered about Japanese car tags is how they get away with having so few digits. Japan must really not have that many cars, but I still don't see how its possible. Unless the tiny kanji mean that much. Looks like that would be hard to read from a distance if that's the case.

That Kanji on the left symbolizes what part of Japan you're from or what your purpose in Japan is. They used that how we use States on our plates.
