greddy shift knob need help installing

hi all. i have an evo and i recently just purchased a greddy aluminum shift knob. i tried to take off the stock knob and replacing it with this knob. there's one problem though. it seems like on hte bar there's a round stopper which stops the shift boot to go down any lower. this causes a problem because my new knob doesnt catch on the original threads because it doesnt go low enough. i was wondering what i can do to fix it? the shift boot has to move lower.

Yes, I had the same problem but I fixed it. What you do is you have to take off that round stopper. Pull it up away from the leather boot and it should pop right off.

Good Luck!!

Trust me, you can pull it right off.....The leather boot is just sipped into the ring, so just pull the whole boot up until you can't pull nomore over the stalk, then stick your index finger or whichever finger fits in there and pick it out like you pick your nose....
