Any vehicles that do not meet these requirements then become "gray market vehicles" which can only be used for off-road use only, and as a result, their value drops considerably. This is commonly referred to as a "branded title" even though titles are rarely ever stamped anymore, but the Carfax/Autocheck will reveal the details and whether or not the vehicle has passed approved DOT inspections.
I don't know if Canada will accept vehicles built for US markets. Get my drift?
man thats a clean wrx, i wish u had an sti then transitioned over so you could give better feedback. comparing a wrx to an evo is tough, the evo is always going to be better. comparing sti to an evo, thats good info there.

In the states, a car made for foreign markets that was not specifically designed to meet EPA emissions requirements, NHSTA crash requirements (5mph bumper, frontal offset, pedestrian impact) and some draconian California emission requirements must get very costly inspections and retrofits done to be able to title and register it legally.

It's not like that. The car is fully legal and registered now for use on the roads. Nothing had to be changed at all, other than the addition of daytime running lights. The government harmonized the bumper laws some time ago. So everything is fair game now.

My wrx had 283whp, so it was slightly faster than the evo is now. It was fully modified also. It had Cusco coilovers f/r swaybars, volks, and the list goes on, and on. It was a sweet car.
crazy low mileage, I got the same exact evo, black mr se, and found it in Cali too. It had about 37k miles. Which was low, but 7k is just insane! Good job!!!
Can you pm me how much did you pay for it? Thanks
