Question At what speed does the downforce of the spoiler come into play?

At what seed do you have to travel for the downforce of the spoiler to actually benifit you?

it keeps the back wheels on the road so you dont fly off. in two words "more traction"

I go around 90mph to work everyday. I live on a highway with no patrols and no traffic usually

The wing on the Evo doesn't really provide downforce in the genuine sense of the word. More correctly, it negates any rear axle lift. The end result is similar, but it merely stabilizes the car at speed as opposed to adding traction (ie at a racetrack). A couple guys I know had "moments" when they ran high-speed with no wing. It has to do with the shape of the rear of the bumper and the trailing edge of the roofline. This is the same reason a lot of cars with no wings have a little lip at the edge of the trunk (S2000, M3, S-Type R, RS-6, etc. etc.). This provides a similar negation of lift without using a wing.

Why do you say this? The wing has an inverted air foil shape which creates a downward force.

Do you mean that the wing only cancels part of the lift created by the shape of the car?

Don't you find it odd that a moderator moved this into Show and Shine rather than suspension, etc?

I've heard that at 60mph and higher is when the Evo wing comes alive. But I've heard that you can quickly add 150lb of down force in the rear by putting your friend in the trunk!

Not enough mass on the spoiler to provide effective downforce, it does wut chris says the angle of the spoiler is not to severe enough to acutally give any ussable downforce. But at 130 mph the EVO is quite stable

It is functional, but without underbody paneling to prevent the body from creting left, the wing isn't generating enough downforce to crerat a net sum of positive downforce.

It's only for looks if you feel like spinning off the highway if you go over 110... Like I mentioned before, a shop I've worked with had a "moment" during high speed testing without a wing.
