its to be able to rock super low offsets and clear the fenders... but it originally started because....

- well the whole thing started in germany/belgium, local laws required that the tire tread be within the fender line. well that doesnt allow one to run wider or lower offset wheels, so they put narrower tires on the wheel to maintain legality

Jus a guess at racing reasons:

1. Less side wall deflection in high load corners
2. Stuff wider rubber under car w/o rubbing

I think this "look" on race cars with tons of negative camber started the silliness you see on the srteet with Veedubs stretched to the point of the bead popping of the rim.

honestly some people like to have their cars low so you have to stretch. were not like 99% of the people on here who just lower your cars with springs. I dont know why people care so much about stretched tires its not your car so who gives a ****. keep your cars high with tires 265 tires and rock on.

i agree. i want to stretch my tires when i get my wheels. most ppl who do this only really care about stance and not performance. i could care less about being the fastest thing out there bc i know i wont be. but i want my car to look good with a sick stance. imo i like stretched tries some ppl dont. some ppl like chicken other ppl dont. this is what makes are world go round

From a tire construction standpoint - its a terrible thing.
So is recommending a tire that is too wide for the rim (like you do).

I remember mini-trucks that looked like that in the 90's... I guess styles really are cyclical.

Can we all just stop quoting the same pics? As much as I like them, I and probably most of you out there, don't need to see the same pic 10 times. C'mon man.
