Not to jack your thread, I just want our members to be aware that an ABS/plastick panel goes for $20 elsewhere. I can't remember the exact vendor/URL but you can search for it in www.vvortex.com(sp?). This company sells VDO gauges too.

Yeah, it's a very nice piece. When I picked-up my AutoMeter boost gauge from them I was admiring their work on that panel. They have them custom made.

Yea, I know there are posts about cheaper panels. Looked at the SAAB panel myself $16 but the local dealer lost my order so Ilooked around some more and found this. Only did the post as an FYI. I feel the more choices one has the better satisfied they will be with their final choice. For some the price will matter most and for others the look or "quality" of the piece is more important.

Serge03, how does that one compare?

What I'm really worried about is mounting of the brackets, which one actually fits etc...

Do we know if these will actually mount into our dash correctly, even with our panel over it? Or will some mods need to be made?

42 draft design

the fit and finish of this DIN looks like OEM Mitsu or VW. It is made to fit VW MK4s, but a DIN is a DIN is a DIN in my book. I dont really think it will be that hard to set this up and make it look factory.

The piece is made of ABS plastic, but I think it was an injection mold because the plastic is rigid. Mounting will probablly require a lil fab, but nothing is really clip in and done on a car that is so new.

Here is a pic for size reference and quality.

Another option is a Mitsu radio blank for around $8 at your local dealer. Mine actually had them in stock. You need to drill 3 2"holes for the gauges through. It also clips into place via the built-in clips you see in the photo.
