Wash don't use dish soap, Mothers Clay Bar. Good quality spray wax done in a shaded area (carport, garage etc NOT under a tree! LOL) Tire cleaner, Rim detailer, window cleaner. after that step back and enjoy the fruits of your labor.

Keep in mind that it's not the product, but the process, that makes the bigger difference. We have a detailing forum on EvoM. Might be worth a look, too.

Spray wax is great, but it's more so a quick detailer than anything. To yield the best finish from your paint you would need to properly prep it before using a wax. No matter how expensive or how much carnuba content is in the wax it still won't be used to it's full potential unless the surface is properly prepped. Obviously you need to start by washing your car, choose a quality clay bar (mothers is generally OK but there is a lot better out there). I use Riccardo clay but it's not available in the US. Try claymagic or sonax green. After claying car you follow up with polishing it. Some people call it cut-polish, power polish, etc.. It's all the same, hand polishing will not get you very far as it gets very very tiring and you won't be able to do the same job as a machine. Invest a good quality polisher (if you're starting out look into random orbitals first). I'd suggest the PC7424, great polisher to start off with. So after you choose a polisher you need to look at which pads and polish you want to use. It all depends on how bad your paint is. After your done polishing give it another wash or wipe down the paint with isopropyl alcohol, I use it 8 parts water to 1 part solution that way it doesn't dry up as fast. Wiping the paint down with this gets rid of the polish oils which may hide some defects. After it's been wiped down now you can layer on however much wax you want to use. Enjoy! It's a long *** process, a full detail including polishing takes me about 20-22hrs depending on the job. Remember not to rush as thats where you begin to find flaws in your work.
