Blacked Out IX/JDM Style Headlights

Deal behind the Black Out:

My car is a 03 ASgsr w/138k on the odo... I've only been with the car for 3.5 weeks... I saw that my headlights were really worn/sun damaged and it was affecting the overall look of my car... The tails were replaced with (ebay) JDMs which imo looks great... So now it was time to do something with the heads...

The JDM headlights looks clean... BUT for 9-1000 dollars a pair... Clean can KMA... I figured that the only thing the jdm's have thats working for them are the blacked out housing...
IMO i find the USDM IX headlights to be the best looking out of all my options... but 6-700 a pair... was about 6-700 dollars to much...

So off to Advance to get primer, satin black paint, sand paper, and silicone glue...
In addition to this i also needed a flat-head SD...

Long story short... I set out to make the USDM IX headlights to look JDM by blacking out the housing... which in my case gave me the best of both worlds...
So 1 bumper, 2 headlights out/stripped/baked/primed/sprayed/baked/and silicone sealed later... I ended up with exactly what i wanted...

Let me know what u guys think...

Before:

After Baking

After sanding and priming

Light sanding and sprayed

Baked and Housed

Same process with passenger side... except this one required restoring the front lens aswell...
Housing finished, Restoring lens

Lens Restored, Baked and Housed...

All in all i got what i wanted and i saved 6-1000 dollars in my pocket...

why didn't you remove the amber lens on top and paint the lower side corner like the JDM? I think they look better than the USDM upper amber section...

Other than the that... they look great! I love the way the flat black look

Its all personal preference bro... I know alot of ppl like the JDM amber portion... but i think the amber and clear running corner on the USDM model looks fine... jus needed the flatblack housing...

Thanx for the compliment though, i do agree flat black housing gives an evo that mean look...

Thanx man... hardest part is sanding the chrome off the original housing (not that its hard, just time consuming)... after that its a breeze...
