I am sure many evo buyers such as me have bought their evo used only to find the center console and shifter in poor condition mainly due to:

1) MMCA used some janky paint which was applied with a toothbrush. Bet Maaco could do a better job.
2) The previous owners didnt care and treated their center console like a public toilet.

So, has anyone re-finished theirs? I am not talking about painting it red, white, blue or purple - even a matte black would be acceptable. Else has anyone covered it with carbon overlay or flocked it with suede.

If you have, can you post pictures?

I am just looking for options on what can be done...

One question - Can the top painted piece on the ashtray and center console be separated from the rest so it can be professionally sprayed? I am concerned about how to finish the edges where the black plastic and center console meet.

Options:
- Overlays - any kind, faux 3m cf vinyl, standard vinyl or cf wrap
- Painting - any color in the world
- fiberglassing turbo timer slot or gauge

Disassembly, yes the top section of the center console can be separated from the black bottom piece. However the top section of the ash tray I don't think comes off as that might be glued on.
