BLUE-YAHH: Buh-Bye Olive Drab Wheels

Although the olive drab color I used to roll was kinda novel - they just never popped. Add a little brake dust to the flat color and the wheels just looked dirty and disappeared in the wheel wells.

So when I needed to paint by roll bar I grabbed the only real blue that was on the shelf at Lowes - Krylon Sail Blue, which looks like JDM YO this is HAWT blue. After I painted the roll bar I knew I wanted to do the wheels in the same color.

Here's a photo of the old olive drab color wheels after I put the roll bar in.

A few shots in the driveway, with the new blue action.

Pretty cool. Are those individually cut vinyl graphics or a wrap?

He painted it today, how is he supposed to give an accurate account of the paints durability?

In my vast rattle can experience they hold up about what you would expect. If you clean and prep well: wash, degrease, scuff, tack cloth, paint - the bonding is pretty good and only serious rocks etc will chip them. Sometimes a tire will scuff the rim a little during install as well.

It's never 100%durable, but it's been good enough for what I was looking for. Otherwise you have to pay the money and have them professionally coated.

Definitely a good looking upgrade!! The blue really sets it off. The graphics make me think of old school G.I. Joe!

Not yet - wish I had a rig to take some rolling shots. I'll be at the track next week, maybe I can get my camera out there with someone.
