J255C's New-ish EVO IX SE

I had a deposit down to finance a 2011 STI and my friends who had all owned Subaru's including myself talked some sense into my inner impulse buying. The increased insurance rates for a brand new Subaru were not doing it for me.

I was a very un-proud owner of a 400whp Legacy GT which was plagued with problems. This was my old always broken Legacy GT.

After I went through 3 transmission and 2 engines i decided to throw in the towel. I am now a full supporter of the darkside.

Some pics of the new whip.

I am in the process of selling this hood. Its Seibon CW Carbon Fiber Painted Tarmac Black ( so if anyone knows anyone with a OEM hood i will trade + cash)

The interior is a little cheap compared to the legacy, but I had the unlimited 05 LGT so its not much worse. Car also has a double din/navigation/amp and sub so the sound is much better than the legacy. The NVH is much higher in this car, transmission whine/transfercase/bumps and rattles.

Exhaust note: Sounds like a pissed off bumblebee. Subarus sound like pissed off helicopters so its a catch 22 imo.

Transmission: Subaru's was tighter, EVO's is still acceptable. I had a 6 puck ACT on my legacy GT, EVO has a exedy which is significantly easier to DD.

Power: I am still on a 93 octane map at 26.5psi with a 3.5" ETS FMIC and intake and turboback. It feels about the same as my gt30 did on 93+meth injection on the top end and just keeps begging for more. The mivec spools it up like the vf40 stage II and gives you gobs of more power.

Dyno is somewhere around 370whp, I plan on getting bigger injectors running it on e85 and calling it a day. Anything over 400whp is trouble for a DD imo.

Handling/Suspension: No questions at all. EVO hands down. EVO has completely stock suspension. This thing is a sticky *****.
My legacy had tein flex coilovers and a cornerweight balance too and still was years behind this car.

Summary: 06 EVO SE #winning.

That makes no sense, your hood is $600, an oem hood is around $1000.

http://www.lancershop.com/customer/p...productid=2326

so if i painted mine black to match your car that would make it around 1200. double the price of your hood brand new

You can find OEM hoods for 300 bucks all the time on the forum, mine is 600 new is carbon fiber and was professionally painted tarmac black.

I'm in no rush to get rid of it, the offer is just up in the air if someone wants it.

Please stay out of my thread.

And you can find your carbon fiber hood on the forum for less than that. So you wanting more money on top of it is pointless. Just buy a oem one for 300 bucks and get it "professionally painted".

Dont try to trade it

Welcome to the dark side No more worries about the engine exploding above 400whp, there are plenty of people around here who daily mid 500 cars and haven't had issues

as for the harshness and sound, thats partly because of the refined suspension in the evo making it stiffer overall, and partly because the subaru had an extra 200-300 lbs of noise deadening and luxury items to soften the noise of the ride
