Ask Matt if he has any in the grey color to match the OEM Mitsubishi sealant...

All black with red "devil" projector

Taken mine apart twice. Also did my '06 WRX and '99 Prelude heads. Really easy to do, plenty of threads online how to do it. I can't imagine paying for real OEM JDM heads when for maybe $20-30 you could make your own replicas.

I've tried the heat gun and oven way. Oven is much easier IMO. Heat gun you have to be more careful not to melt the plastic around the seams. Either way you should be able to take them apart and put them back together in less than 4 hours if it's your first time. Took me about 2 1/2 my first time on my Evo.

Black Silicone RTV. But in all reality, you won't need to use either unless you dig the old stuff out. Just heat up the headlight with the original silicone in the oven for about 10 min to re-seal after paint. I haven't had a single problem after opening twice with original silicone.

I agree with what everyone else says. Just paint or get someone that knows how to them. I say do them in flat black. Here are my JDM 8 ones.

First pic, I replaced my bumper with an OEM 9 with SE lip and on this pic it still needed some aligning. The bottom pic is after the bumper was fixed.... in case anyone notices.

Does anybody know the diameter of the high beam reflector? I'm thinking about possibly doing a quad retrofit when i get my Evo, something which I've never seen done on the 8/9 headlights. Or if somebody plans on painting their headlights in the future could you possibly measure it for me?

I've done 2 quad CTs and currently doing a 3rd:
Quad 1
Quad 2
Quad 3
Quad 4

^^ this a fake quad setup.. There is no room to fit a "Whole" projector in the high beam houding unless you're prepared to resolve the following:
True Quad dilemmas

Halos for high beam housing:
There are quite a few styles available. The only experience I have is with:
Raw CCFL halos (No acrylic casing)
You will need to get 100mm (outter diameter) halos for the high beam..

Thanks for the info! Guess I should have dug a little deeper.

I was thinking I could still do it, as I have no problem making a waterproof "cap" for the rear end, but I wasn't aware of the fluid bottles in the way, guess it's hard to come up with ideas when you don't actually have the car yet. Still, gonna have to look into it, you do some nice work! Definitely gonna retrofit some bixenon projectors in either way, the stock units just don't seem very good, at least not compared to what's out there.

^^ This is what I suggest you do:

* Remove the crappy OEM projector in the low beam housing and retrofit an EvoX-R Bixenon unit. (will require you to make custom brackets to fit up to OEM mounting points). relatively straight forward. I can help you with that.

* Retrofit a Mini H1 BiXenon projector into the high beam housing. Its the smallest BiXenon unit on the market so it'll give you less headaches then trying to fit an:
* FX-R or
* EvoX-R
Hopefully the 100mm or 90mm cap will fit to resolve your waterproofing issue
Remember that youre going to need a shroud to cover up the Mini H1 in the high beam housing... I used an E46-R (extended) shroud..

GL....
