Fixing Rock Chips the right way...

When I used to own a M3 and I was on the BMW forums I recall a post about how to fix rock chips the right way. Instead of just putting paint on you put paint on and went through several different grits of FINE sand paper so you could make it look like there was almost never a rock chip there. Can anyone tell me how I go about doing this and what grits I should use and the order I should do this in. I have a few rock chips on my wheel well which is hardly noticable but I want to fix them up before I put some 3m clear bra on it.

Best Regards,
Chris

This is the site you probably saw on the BMW forums.
