Got this ebay "M3 style trunk lip" a while back.
cut it, double side tape to my wing.
Made a gurney flap.
It was a fun project.
Yes, the car is filthy, but I for 1 out of 100, I drive my evo DD. I dont store it. EVER.

Looks great on the wing. Have you experimented a gurney flap underneath the wing. While the wing is on the trunk?

 

The cops bother you with the wing? Must be a Texas thing. Goddang ricers and thier big wing...get a good ol merica truck V8!!

 

FYI peoples wings have snapped with the gurney flaps on them. Too much downforce on the wing itself. I think they were 9's though, they have hollow wings; the 8's wing is filled with foam i believe to give it more rigidity

 

First time I've heard this. Do you have any additional info?

I have a Gurney flap and haven't split my wing yet going over 130mph on track.



OP, did you move your M3 lip to your wing? Looks good, should give quite a bit of downforce.

I have that same Ebay lip on my RS truck. Neat piece. May order 1 for the wing

 

thanks guys. yeah. i moved that piece from my wingless trunk to the top of my wing.

and yes the evo 8's wing is filled with foam. I"ve gone only as fast as 90mph so far and its still holding lol.

and yes. it should give quite a bit of downforce at $0 (already paid for it months ago).



well Texas cops are more lenient. but I drive like a grandma and maintain my evo to the best of i can. I rarely speed and i sometimes get impatient ppl flashing their highbeams at me to go faster. I just let them pass then i flash my highbeams back at them 20x longer.

as a matter of fact. I was so pissed off at this lexus suv rx450 for highbeaming me cause i was going slow due to a stalled vehicle on the very rightside of the road, I tailed that SUV and flashed the heck back at him. he then got scared and pulled into a gas station. afraid that i was gonna follow him to his house.

Yes the issue with wings breaking in half was an evo 9 issue.
I just ordered the Rexpeed gurney flap. I will have to see how it matches up to yours.
I ordered the white one. if i dont while the white on the CF i might give your idea a try.
