Project Under Dog/Help The Disabled Vets
After 2 years of being away from the Evo Community I am back with a vengeance
!! After months of searching, to only find over priced Evo's that were busted up, I had given up! Then my buddies Evo fell into my lap. To make a long story short he blew the motor up, then tried to build his own version of a drag car and realized he couldn't afford it! So we agreed upon a great price and I ran with it! It's an 03 Apex Silver Evo 8. I was never a fan of Apex Silver color but I figure I can just change that! (I am Electric Blue is the winner).
With that being said I have decided to team up with the two best vendors I know and trust! Buschur Racing and Street Tuned Motorsports! I will be using both vendors for their fantastic knowledge and high quality proven race parts! This will be a flat out nasty Drag car build (not a gutted tin can) that will be fully street functional as well. Goals are 9.0 -8.7 passes!!
I named this project under dog for everyone who was ever told It can't be done! Nothing is impossible if you put your mind to it, work hard and NEVER GIVE UP/ DONT EVER GIVE UP (Jimmy V)
Now to the greatest part about this build! When I reach my first ever pass of 9.3 1/4 mile I will donate $1,000 dollars of my own money to HOMES FOR OUR TROOPS(Non Profit Organization that builds handicap accessible homes for disabled veterans) www.hfotusa.org/ if you want to check their site out! For every pass I reduce my 1/4 mile time I will add an additional $500.00 to the check!
I'm hoping to get all shops on board with this! Any way they can help even if its a small donation or whatever they can afford to help raise the most money we can for our Disabled Veterans! It's hard enough with a disability but what good is it if they do not have a handicap accessible house to make every day tasks easier! If anybody on here wants to donate or do anything It will be much appreciated. Contact me anyway! All the money will go into a special account at our local bank and when the race season is over next summer, Myself and many of our local disabled Veterans will go and donate this check to HOMES FOR OUR TROOPS personally!
Without further adieu HERE IS PROJECT UNDER DOG!! Teaser I-Phone pictures(sorry for the crappy teaser pictures to start, I will have a professional photographer on board for all the build pictures from here)

Phase 1: Get the car to my storage shed
A) Weight Reduction

Made some progress on the Evo yesterday. Started removing un needed parts in preparation for weight reduction/ paint....
Abs Deleted
Clutch master cylinder
Front Crash Beam
Rear Crash Beam
Power Steering Pump
Power Steering Res
Brembo Calipers
Factory Rotors
Evap Canister
Trunk Washer Fluid Canister

Next step is to gut the entire interior and get it ready for paint! Tons of weight reduction yet to do in the interior!!

There's my buddy!! Yep I am back. As you can see I started to gut this car out! Don't be a stranger man shoot me a text whenever. Next step is to gut the interior out and get the car over to STM for the carbon roof install and then off to paint! My buddy who originally had this car , drove it all through the winter. Lots of surface rust! Reminds me of the pictures STM did when Alex Ortiz car first hit their shop! I am going to fix all the surface crap and replace every bolt in the car !
I meant acid dipped to have every square inch of the body fresh and start from scratch...I looked into it, it's pretty reasonable. I plan to do this and a cf roof in the next few years assuming I have time to tear the car apart lol I never even drive it

I don't think I can get it acid dip locally. We will probably sand it down every inch though! On the roof 12-15hrs I believe Brian Gleason told me. I'm doing a lot of prep work for them so it helps out. I have to get it done though. I have the sunroof . Better consider getting it done soon. I don't know how much longer the cf roofs will be available. Heard they are doing away with them and only doing carbon fiber overlays now.
