Stereo/Speaker Combo

i consider myself pretty knowledgeable when it comes to the mechanics of my car, but when it comes to stereo..forget it.

doesn anyone have a recommendation on a decent headunit, not too costly (rather spend cash on performance ) and some decent rear speakers.

the help would be greatly appreicated.

thanks

if you want a screen try checkin out Pioneer's new system, i believe you can use it to display guages as well, for head units, any of Alpine's high end models are great, i have their CDA-7995 and love it. you will need an amp though for most of the alpine high end ones because they do not have powered amps inside of them

It really depends what you want to go for. If you want something pretty nice that looks good too. I would say Alpine. BUT if you want something bad *** (better) I would say either the Nak or the Eclipse 8 volt.
As for speakers you gotta go with what sounds good to your ear. For me its CDT silk domes and Coda midbass drivers.

BTW: you can spend the same amount of money on an alpine as you can on a better head unit.... some people just dont know better.

I went with an upper end Alpine headunit, with out a screen. Wanted to keep things simple. I used an older Rockford Fosgate amp I had (from back when they made good stuff) and the rest is JL Audio; two 8" subs, Front component seperates, and rear coaxials. Sounds great....Clean....If this gives you some help on things??

Not many responses because there so much to choose from. It really depends on your budget. As for a head unit, most brands are pretty equal, but it should come down to which features/looks your looking for. Alpine is top notch stuff, but other brands offer different displays and features for less. For non-subwoofer speakers, I recommend MB Quart.
