I've heard nothing but positives about the Apexi. I've heard some bad stuff about HKS's filter itself. If the Apexi filter mounts to the HKS MAF pipe, I think I'll do that. It comes out to around the same price, and plus the Apexi filter is a lifetime no hassle filter. No replacements!

Eh? Why not? It's a dry type filter, not unlike the metal mesh filters.

so HKS RS kit is bad? you would go with just the HKS pipe and a APexi filter?

Why would mthe RS kit be bad? Vice versa, it sucks in air like no other and the filter is one of the freest flowing ones ever made (apexi I mean).

SOME people have fitament problems with their AEM intakes. I have not had a fitament problem with it yet. Please do not say it is a bad product just because a select few have had problems with it. Myself along with others have had pretty good success with it. Correct me if i'm wrong but, It does not even look like you have an Evo .

The HKS filter has been shown to not filter as well as other filters, while the Apexi has proven to filter the best.

All in all, most intakes are the same with the exception of a few minor details and look to them. An intake in a stock car will not net as much gains as a car that is properly tuned for with other mods.

i went to a meet 2 weeks back and 2 guys had the aem intake , both complained about fitment issues and i heard a few of them saying " son of a ***** " a few times as well . there was a mechanic there saying how it was not a good product by aem , and wouldn't reccomend it at all. he also said that they spent no time researching the product and it was as if they through a "f-ing" civic intake into an evo . jus my .02

Heh, different strokes for differant folks I suppose.

Plenty of people on these boards had no problem with the fitment. The only problem I had, was with the filter and AEM sent me a new one for free. Some people talked about how the rubber coupler did not fit on the mass either. I used some lube prior to putting it on to ensure fit. I don't know though, guess i'm just lucky?

I'm not sure on the time spent researching the product, but it is fairly new as it came out in mid/late September. I trust AEM products as i've used intakes from them, EMS, and tons of other products from them before.

As for it looking like a civic intake, in all honesty it does not differ THAT much from other intakes in the market. Maybe he was just refering to it's massive filter size?

EDIT: Just to clarify, I do not work for AEM
