Recommend a polish

My car (tarmac black) is full of swirls and scratches and I'm trying to get rid of them as much as possible. I just hate the way my car looks right now.

To do that I would need a recommendation for a polish.
Please - NOT WAX.
I don't have great experience with swirl remover so I'm looking at something a bit more serious but also something that will not hurt my paint or make it dull.
Saw a bunch of products at Pep Boys (3M, Meguiras etc) but have no experience with them and not sure if they are any good in the first place.
Some help would be appreciated.

First of Sasha you had your Evo for more than 6 months... WASH YOUR CAR... you haven't done so since you bought it... the only water it has ever seen is from the rain .. see what happens when you don't wash it

Just realized they started censoring this forums Probably that ladies over 65 don't get offended by bad language and kids under 10 don't learn some of the useful words

Anyways, off with OT.... 3M is so far #1 on my list and glad to see it being recommended. However would like to hear some more good/bad things about all the wonderful products out there.

3M SMR for dark/light cars is very good...however by hand is a biatch...it contains diminishing abrasives that you need to work into the paint and break down to a fine residue...

an easier product to use by hand that I know they sell at pep boys is Meguiars #9...same principle as the 3M SMR...but a bit easier to work in by hand...

an even easier product to work in by hand are the Einzsett polishes...however they are not available locally and can be bought throught the intArweb...

like everyone said, plan on spending a few hours with polishing...

BTW...zaino contains ZERO abrasives...aka no polishing action...(kinda contradictory in the name, no?)

3M makes some of the best polishes in the world. Every REAL body shop i have ever been to uses 3M everything.

Any company that actually makes paint will most likely deliver the best results, so BASF and DuPont should not be left out.

Zaino also manufactures a polish for cars without clear coat. I am not sure if this contains ZERO abrasives, but i have used many of their products, and have always been satisfied with them. My father uses Zaino on his 5-Series and his Merc 300D, both black, and they always look stunning.

I just did Zanio on my car this weekend.

I used Z2 and ZFX. Then I used Z6 to finish it up.

I'm amazed with Zaino. Car looks perfect. And you can't see any swarl marks or cracks in the paint.

Also I suggest to use the Zaino car was. I did not get even one water spot on my car after using the car wash.

My Car is Black. the Z6 adds a sun blocking additave.

Eric

I haven't tried this yet, but I will when the weather permits. Is is Nanowax from Eagle One. It conceals swirls as it waxes--in one step.

Check it out: http://www.eagleone.com/_products/3,2081616.asp
