New wheel and tire setup along with wing delete

I picked this car up just under 2 months ago.

Did some basic cosmetic mods to start, along with a 10hr detail.
Wheels are esr sr08 18x8.5 et30 with 15mm spacers in front and 5mm rear.

I choose these wheels cause they slightly resemble the oem Evo 9 wheels but with a concave look.

I do have some slight rubbing I need to address with the 245/40/18. I'd recommend a small diameter tire then I have if I was to do anything different.

How i got it.

I tell you what, I like that a lot

You picked a wheel size & offset that gave you some room to work with. The 15mm front spacer really gets you some poke up front & the 5mm in the rear gives you an effective +25mm wheel in the rear (which is an aggressive offset)

But, as you noted you now have some rub. You will need to roll the rears at the very min to make this work

The wheel choice looks great!

Thanks, goal was to be able to rotate wheels .

I don't have any rubbing issues in the rear, didn't even have to roll the fenders . It's the front that gave me trouble.
I ended up putting a heat gun to the plastics, and tapped the bottom screw that holds the plastics with a hammer just slightly to bend the tap that holds the screw.
No more rubbing, but if I was to do it again I would go with a shorter tire. Even a 255/35 would of been shorter, or a 245/35/18 would be totally safe .
My 245/40/18 is just to tall but they are ok now

very nice... whenever I see an Evo on the street (which is rare even here in DC area), they are often beat up and neglected... you did a great job cleaning her up.

245 would be fine for an 8.5 inch rim... no need to go to a 255... my 2 cents..

Ya this thing was a diamond in the rough, had all service records, the minor work was done by a good shop. It just needed alittle tlc .

As far as the tires, it's not the width that was a problem.
It was the fact that 245/40/18 are over 1" in diameter taller then stock. Which some seem to do ok with, but all tire brands are slightly different and mine turned out to be larger.

What's the rear bumper/difuser setup on this car? It looks different from what you usually see. I like it.

Stock bumper with a carbon fiber diffuser. The carbon is peeling alittle but it still looks good so it's staying

Nice! the paint looks ten times better.

The first picture shows how neglected the Evo was by the previous owner. The white paint was so contaminated that it looked yellowish.
