Just got my 2004 Evo!!!!
Congrats man. Yeah, don't let the haters ruin your day. Just looking at the pic of you at the dealer brought back memories of my day at the dealer. What a feeling pulling out of that lot! It was the first performance car I've ever had (I'm 25). I was giddy for like the first two months. I would literally come home from work (at like 2:00am) and take the car for joyrides. I had never looked forward to red lights in my life but this car made me. The feeling pulling away from them at full throttle is indescribable!
I too had to work hard to afford the car (at the time of purchase, I worked three jobs, two at $10 an hour and another tutoring... and I had a degree in computer science!) I was willing to work the three jobs to keep the car, but as luck had it I finally got a decent job (still working 50+ hours though...)
The evo's one hell of car though. Like the other say though, try to be safe. If you want some speed, find a local autocross club or drag strip. And nevermind the kids on Hondas trying to flex -- you have an evo and they have a Honda, you both know it so there's no need for any further action.
