Well, I finally made my mind up and sprung for some A'PEXi EL2 series link gauges. They were really easy to install but took a while to run all the wires around. I'm taking my car somewhere this week to tap the EGT sensor in and i'll be all set to go. Pics below...

So far i'm loving the gauges. They function exactly like the defi-link gauges but they dont beep when you reach warning (just a really bright red LED blinking in your face) and the only record 30 seconds of data instead of two minutes (Defi Control Unit I records 30 seconds too though....new one is 2 mins).. They also have the defi style startup sequence.

Oh yeah, how could I forget! I made my own suction cup mounts. These gauges use the standard A'PEXi mount found on their SAFC, VAFC, and other stuff. I bought some suction cups at home depot, cut little slits in to the sides of the base and slid them through the gaps in the A'PEXi stand and flipped them upside down to mount. Needed to bend the mount a little so it wouldnt wobble back and fourth. Overall it was really easy. This could also be a cool way to mount an SAFC.

Rob...get the blitz suction meter mounts. They will look way better.

 

I love it, but I'd be so afraid of people thinking "oh its only on with suction cups, so much easier to steal."

 

Tried that, their mounting kit is only for their gauges. Apparently the DCII gauges are the only thing that fits that blitz mount.

I think this suction cup setup is only temporary. I'm thinking of buying the Defi pillar mounts and seeing if the apex ones can fit on them. Its a base with two screws and a place you hinge that gauge band on to it. I think the apex one may fit. So far i dont think my setup looks bad at all....the apex base it a tad large....i might cut them shorter and move the suction cups towards the middle more.

 

Thanks. I was going to use heavy duty double sided tape but i know in the sun that will loosen up and fall. I dont really like the evo pods cause they are in your face.....and everyone here in socal has the craig hardy panel. I wanted something different. I think this will do for now. Might cut some of the end of the mounting base so it wont be so wide and move the suction cups towards the middle more.

Well, my EGT backlight just died and i swap the wire with the Boost and it still dosnt work. Looks like a defective gauge. A'PEXi wants me to send it back to them so they can replace it. I new there was something wrong with it from the start cause it wasnt as bright as the boost gauge. Oh well...no biggie...they are being cool about it. Since i'm a vendor i bought it direct from them.
