Hey everyone. Just bought a red '03 EVO VIII 2 days ago. Clean as hell, only 10k miles and not a scratch on it. This happens to be my first DSM, but by far not the first import I've modded. Mostly Hondas and VWs in the past along with a few old-skool muscle cars and at least 2 body-dropped and bagged full size trucks.

I will be doing a few mods, but I want to stay in a fairly mild class (SCCA) until I learn to drive better (autocross).

I do have a question, though. That all-carbon fiber HKS/HIPERMAX TimeAttack EVO that's been at SEMA/IAS and in a few mags http://www.semaias.com/images/JRDF061.jpg has what a few people call "Dry Carbon" parts. (The carbon fiber work has a matte finish). I'm wanting to get a carbon hood (and trunklid) done this way and Im wondering if anyone knows who did the carbon work on this car or if any US vendors are marketing a "dry Carbon" hood. Or maybe someone out there knows if it's possible to take a glossy hood and scuff/sand it and respray it with matte clearcoat or whatever.

You're in luck....there is a, though expensive, well made dry CF hood and trunk on the market...I keep forgetting who makes it, but do a search on the "SparcoEvo" and you'll be on the right track. Hope this helps.
