worked in detail shop for five years (Honda)... make sure you use a soft wax pad not cloth for best results. clay bars work good for "rail dust"- black specs from living near rail road lines. Flashwax is good for orbital waxers- use at least 2 coats for best,long-lasting results.

QUESTION: what is the best way to clean the CF Spoiler? i work at a mitsu dealership as a swap driver, but i detail also. a co-worker said not to soap or dry w/ chamois the spoiler cause the CF could scratch. whats the best way? just rinse and let it air dry? then ull get water spots. thanks.

Um....no. The CF wing is just like the paint on the car; it has a clearcoat. Therefore, you can wash and dry the wing just like paint, polish it, and wax it too. But chamios sucks period. Microfiber is the only way to go.

I think I remember something about making sure to use a UV resistant wax on the CF wing to prevent discoloration. I don't remember where I would have gotten this information though.

Microfiber drying cloth instead of the chamios. Are there microfiber cloths just for drying? I haven't see any. I have to look again.

Ok I just clayed my car and it came out very smooth. No more little paint droplets on my car except for a little on the weather stripping. I definatley recommend claying your car to anyone. It leaves a nice finish even without waxing, and takes off everything from your car even stuff you didnt know was there. I'm gonna buy the wax tomorrow. Im thinking about getting the Zymol wax if theres a better one out there let me know thanx.

If you got the $ to spend....get the kit from griots garage. Quite pricey but its the same stuff those nutcases that are in the Concourse De Elegance use.

Well like I said Jovani, if you want a better wax, go look up P21S. Nothing leaves a nicer shine or protective coating than that. If you want to really love your car, you should go for the whole nine yards and to a sealant/glaze or polish. Klasse is great stuff when it comes to the glaze, and when topped with P21S, it only gets better. Zaino is the number polish on my list, and once again if you top it with P21S, it has an unbeatable shine.

^^ is correct

there are books that have been written on this topic so I'll try to keep it simple.

Products:
clay bar = clay that you use to remove any dirt particles in the paint
paint cleaner = product that cleans the paint
wax = product that protects the paint
NOTE: most cheap products that are sold as car wax are really a one step paint cleaner + wax

if you have some time and money then this is what I would do:
1) wash the car with dawn (this will also strip any wax on the car)
2) clay the car to remove any dust / dirt
3) use a paint cleaner to get any dirt out of the car (you will notice an amazing difference on the back bumper, all the crap from the muffler will come out with ease)
4) use a wax. apply with an applicator pad, remove with mircofiber

I didn't even mention any products to use, there are so many and it's all preference. I believe that the key is technique more than product.

the best resource you have is http://www.autopia.org/ they have some great guides to get started and reviews on every product out there

one last thing, you shouldn't have any need to use a buffer or any machine on your new paint.

In between steps 3 and 4 above: that's where you can do the Zaino or Klasse series. If you're really stuck onto your car, you'll do it .

this is how i wash my precious white evo.
1. Hand washing is the best beacause you can see areas better that need special attention, such as swirls and scratches.

2. Clay vehicle with Clay Magic. Comes with clay bar and lubricant. Spray lubricant about a
6 by 6" area. Rub Clay back and forth. Apply needed pressure to take out stubborn stains. Clay is slightly abrassive so when it feels dry repeat step.

3. Then use ZYMOL HD CLEANSE. It is a prep wax. It will take off previous wax and anything
else that's on the surface before waxing. Apply on applicator. Rub on using a left to right motion no Karate Kid stuff, will cause swirls. Do not use buffer. Do not so whole car at once. Do certain areas at a time(fl fender then driverside door the rl fender etc........). Let haze for about 20 min. Then use a microfiber towel to take off. Once again a left to right motion not circular.

4. ZYMOL CREME WAX(specifically for white cars) Repeat step 3 techinques on how to apply and remove.

You will be amazed on how deep silky shiny your car will be. Also Zymol is all natural ingredients no contaminents or abrasives. Hope this helps you out .
