Lots of patience, Mothers aluminum polish, armor all wipes, dress up items (billet caps, battery tie, grounding kit, carbon radiator shroud spark plug well cover, red electrical tape to go over the stock black tape).

Here's another thing to consider about the louvers:

They point backwards so that when you are driving the moving air continues BACKWARDS out of the vent, pulling the heat away from the front of the car. If performance is a consideration, you might want to keep that in mind. I'm not sure how significant a difference it makes, but it seems as though there are more benefits to keeping the vent in place...

...unless, of course, you want to up your "bling" factor...

I would think a lot more dust / dirt from the road would get in there. I just hate cleaning engine bays...........

Without the louvers the hotter air will still flow out the vent when the car is moving. When it's stopped, more heat will escape because there is no restriction on air flow. The downfall is more dirt and water.

living in Texas this is just not an option, rains all the time, and it's too spuratic to predict.

I live in Ga and I take it off when the weather is good and keep the cover in the trunk in case the weather starts to get nasty. Had no problems with water or anything else, except for some dust but i clean my engine everytime i clean my car.

ah little water isn't gunna kill your engine, besides it's not like YOU put the big hole in the hood anyway!

My thoughts...

With the vent on 3 gallons of water a year will drop into the engine bay... (rains alot in FL)
Without the vent 4 gallons of water a year will drop into the engine bay...

With the vent on less hot air can escape the engine bay, thus increasing underhood temps..
Without the vent more hot air escapes the engine bay, thus reducing underhood temps...

With the vent on less dust will accumulate in the engine bay...
Without the vent more dust will accumulate in the engine bay...

With the vent on it looks good... (when the vent is clean)
With the vent off it looks good... (when the engine is clean)

I say screw it...

Fact, on a rainy day lots of water gets into our engine bay with it on....
Fact, on a rainy day lots of water gets into our engine bay without the vent on...

I say they both look good with or without, and the pro is your underhood temps will be lower and the con is more dust and water...

Watch the sales video for the EVO that was posted on here a while back. They specifically state that the louvers point backwards to direct the airflow backwards. The Mitsu engineers had more in mind than just dirt and water when they designed it that way.

I'm still not convinced that it would make a significant difference though...

I have had mine off for awhile now. I don't believe the previous EVO models have the vent. And its open anyway, so water get it either way. Wash your car with it on and without it and see if you can notice any more water getting in...I did, but nothing to be concerned with, it gets in there anyway...I live in AZ, so rain is really not a concern for me...

That's marketing-speak, not engineering. It's an exhaust, not an intake.

Clearly, you've missed the logic.
