You must wash the area fisrt then dry it. Spray with WD40 and leave about 20 seconds then wipe off with a clean towel and finally wash the area again to remove the excess of WD40. This will not damage your paint. I use this method for years. I hope this help

 

I was always told to use gas...then wipe very well afterwards, but I like your way better dont have any gassy rags left over.

 

A milder degreaser like simple green works for most tar, and isn't nearly as harsh on your wax/polish. I'd save the WD40 for the worst tar.

 

What about the tar that is under the carpet how do you remove that?

dry ice to take off sound deadening tar. It chips in whole peices rather than a gooey mess with heat

How about the ultra sticky grey glue that hold the plastic bags inside the doors?

Man I tried to remove some on oneside and its worse than crazy glue it gets on everything!

 

Or you could just go buy some TR-2 and make it easy on yourself. way better than any over the counter products

Peanutbutter works well too, just don't use chrunky

 

use tarminator to get it off your paint, you can find it at a local auto parts store

 

i tried the peanut thing once and it worked really well,not the chunky kind of course(LOL)

 

how about bug and tar remover. I use this and it works fine...the spray can works good not the spray bottle.

Laquer thinner works well too but I would not do it that way, just get a can of bug and tar remover. On all you single staged guys(03-04 red and white evos) use caution when using anything to remove tar, you will get some color on your towel, but as long as its a lil color you are ok, if it starts running to your garage floor be ALARMED.
