Hidden *Don't Steal Me* Spot for Turbo Timer

I got tired of seeing that damn blinking red and blue light every time I shut my car off. Plus I figure that's like a blinking beacon to attract theives and the last thing I want is someone to break into my car. So, I moved my turbo timer to a more discreet location. All it took was a small saw and a couple zip ties. Ash tray still closes fine, and you can't see the light hardly at all at night, just a VERY thin line. I figure all it needs to do is keep the car running, I don't need to see it. Here are some pics.

This one's kinda blurry but you can see the ash tray still closes fine.

Here's the TT.

Tell me what you think.

haha i was thinking about that for the longest time. it just seemed like too much work though. my idea was to shove it actually in the ash tray, and so i can flip it up to see it and close to to hide.

Good call, I like the stealth approach myself.
Amazing how many naturally aspirated 1981 **** boxes running what sounds like open ports are in need of turbo timers / electronic go fast gadgets of all kinds. Take a look sometime, usually just power and ground connected to them.

I figured I would rather them see my turbo timer than think " that guy just locked his keys in his car with it still running. Let's go bust a window and take it for a ride." Of course I could be wrong. Criminals do seem to be pretty stupid.

open or closed......I would be after the TV if I was a thief. In most cases, they want stereo stuff not a 100 dollar turbo timer that won't do them any good without the harness.

en1gma19, can we see a wider shot of your dash? I didn't think a tv monitor head unit could clear that lower DIN spot.

no thieves go for the quickest and easiest steal.... but they are not smart.... they may leave valueable things like harnesses but go after turbo timers... they go for watever looks nice

A whole car probably looks nicer than a turbo timer though right?

ask and you shall recieve.

the tv actually clears the panel nicely. it just barely comes to rest against it with the tilt setting I use. It can tilt foward some more but I think it's perfect like it is. And I close it everytime I leave my car somewhere I can't keep an eye on it. Plus the bottom part of the face comes off to prevent use if someone stole it. Although this may not keep someone from breaking in, hopefully it would keep someone from ripping it out of the dash if they can't use it. I know it covers the a/c controls but I NEVER use a/c anyway. Had car for a year, used it once, only because it was pouring rain. Usually the windows are open. I was actually thinking of taking the climate controls out and having a new panel made that had a cubby there since I had no center cubby anymore. Just a thought. Next on the list is a nice alarm system so that should help too.

Here are the pics.

And here's one from the side

Enjoy
