Are those really 245s? That car looks awesome. You've got me wanting to try and put my stock tires on my 18 x 10.5s again. They don't look as stretched as I thought they would. I might have to at least try it.

JYD Sep 18, 2010 07:58 PM

hey, lets all quote the pictures!

dmcghie Sep 18, 2010 08:00 PM

noob12 Sep 18, 2010 08:05 PM

Any rolling of the fenders? Looks like it would rub a bit. The shots from the side and rear look sick.

You have a long way to go. Why don't you just eBay it instead of messing someone's thread?

i seriously hate you.

car looks awesome! the stretch is a bit much, but i'm sure you would rub even worse if you had a wider tire. i have a soft spot for ww rs'. nice job!

MRlong Sep 19, 2010 04:53 PM

WOW. and i thought my 9.5's were wide....:crap:
car looks great!

foam Sep 19, 2010 05:29 PM

I love the size/offset!

vipers Sep 19, 2010 06:16 PM

it looks good...but when you have an evo, its pointless to do this... with those wheels on, you can barely hit a bump and it will rub the tires against the fenders, let alone even remotely THINK about taking a turn at anything other than a snails pace... why kill an evos performance so drastically, just to look good? its like putting daytons on a ferrari! it looks good, im not trashing that... just the fact that you just turned an evo into a honda civic performance wise.

but i guess thats just me.................. Hella' Functional > Hella' Flush

GTABurnout Sep 19, 2010 09:12 PM

Damn

you would love john muellers functional wheel size talk. dude opened my eyes!

bryant Sep 19, 2010 09:35 PM

Ha ha, I love all the comments. You guys are too funny. (Facebook 'Like' button had me going:) )

To answer a few questions I saw.
Does it rub? Yes, the rear does over big bumps or into driveways. But the rear is not pulled any.

What was done to fenders? Rears are cut flush. Front are stock. -2.5° camber all around. More camber might help, but I'd rather not do that.

What coilovers? JRZ RS PRO's with 18kg Fronts and 16kg Rears for the springs.

Why a stretched tire? Because there is no way you are going to fit +18 under the stock body with out going widebody or flaired rears.

I have some 265 cup tires on another set of Volk CE28N's, 18x9.5 +28 that I could always toss on if I want to get my fat tire fix. Who says you have to own only one set of wheels?

Thanks for all the comments, good or bad.

in that case, i can't hate on the setup...much. I personally still don't like the way it looks with the wheels sticking out too far, but as long as there's a chance he might actually use the EVO for what it was meant to do, then it's all good. just need to adjust that rear alignment after putting the race wheels on {thumbup}

Nobody said you have to agree with everyone's opinion. These are sick ass wheels that stick out too much, IMO. If the OP likes this look then more power to him.

When you bash wheel that cost a 1/6th of what your car cost and are rolling around on Volk replicas you opened the floodgates.

I'm sure the OP didn't end up with 10.5 inch wheels with 255's on a stock bodied 8 by accident...

Baller!!! Car looks sick! I thought my rubbing issues was bad...I cant imagine yours {thumbup}

R/TErnie Sep 24, 2010 05:48 PM

you have some seriously expensive shocks.

your spring rates are quite weird however. Have you looked into the motion ratio of the rear suspension? I think a 16k front spring and an 18k rear spring would be more apt.

I have to ask...what do you do with the car with that high of a spring rate?

bryant Sep 25, 2010 03:02 PM

I bought them before I knew what the car would be used for. Right now I only daily drive it and it has never seen the track. The pad lock is the closest its been to one, ha. I would love to take it out one day, but my work schedule is pretty busy.

I have read about quite a few members that put the stiffer springs in the back to get the car to rotate better. I'm sure if I ever got into any kind of racing with it, I would look at choosing different spring rates.

R/TErnie Sep 25, 2010 03:34 PM

It has to do with the motion ratio of the rear suspension eating up your spring rate

lilal Sep 25, 2010 08:31 PM

omg that set up is sick

Evolved360 Sep 25, 2010 10:17 PM

Awesome pics. The car looks great.

[DCEIVR] Sep 26, 2010 05:21 AM

Would it be possible to get pictures of the shaved fenders? I'd be very interested in seeing what they look like without the wheels there.

Have the fenders become more flimsy without the lip?

bryant Sep 26, 2010 07:43 PM

Well my cut job wasnt as pro as I would like. Need to get it into my friends shop so he can clean it up a little and touch up with some paint so it doesnt rust. Might have him flair it a little to get a bigger tire on as well while its there.

No I dont believe they have. Seems just as strong to me.

Your new set-up is just prime for a Voltex Wide Body. Ive given it some thought & would go for it given certain conditions arise
