Question Help a newbie out. 245/40/18 on 18x8.5+30 with stock suspension

I just recently got a set of 18x8.5 G-Games 77W tires with a set of BFG G-Force KDW2 tires (245/40/18) from VividRacing. They are awesome!! Thanks again Jackie.

Well im running a stock suspension and mounted those wheels and unfortunately i am getting some rubbing on the rear fenders but just a little bit, i only drove on them for like 5 minutes before i took them off so i can try and get this problem resolved.

My question is would getting a lower profile tire help? so 245/35 instead of 245/40 or do i need to get 235/40 or 235/35? This question seems to have been answered but every situation involves someone with an upgraded suspension where mine is stock. I have talked with representatives and they say that the car supports up to 265 so i am basically confused as to what is going on. Who know someone even mentioned the possibility that there could be a problem with my suspension but i bought the car new about 10 months ago and has never seen the track or any abusive driving.

Ill have some pics up later

Thanks fo any help you all may have

What is the offset on the rims?

N/M. Didn't notice it in the title.

I'm runnin' the same tire size on stock suspension, Advan RG's that are 18" x 8.5" +31 offset and no rubbing ever.

1 mm difference in offset is only .03937" so I wouldn't think that would matter, either that or mine are really close to rubbing!

Good luck

I have 18x8.5 +30 with 245/40/18 tires here are some close up pics with the tired mounted and some scrape marks. On the first pic notice how far in that lip goes in and its rubbing on the edge of that at the top of the fender, maybe rolling the fender will fix it?

if you got stiffer suspension, maybe that would help, so the car wont rub as much.. change the camber as well to let them tuck in when the car compresses..

i run 18x8.5 +30 w/ BFG Gforce KD's 245/40/18 and have no problems rubbing and my car is lowered on TEIN Flex coilovers (about 2")

well i just got back from mitsu today and this is what they had to say.

First person said i whould cut or shave down the lip on the fender to prevent any rubbing because rolling it will damage the paint.

2nd guy told me that a larger wheel would effect the camber and i need a camber kit (this guy was probably high as a kite because i dont know how putting a bigger wheel and tire can effect the camber on the stock suspension.

3rd guy told me i need a spacer but wont that make the tire stick out even more????
and finally someone said that the rear suspension may not have the proper amount of pressure and to bring in the car along with the rims so they can mount them and see exactly what is going on but it may be a warranty issue and they will just replace it with a new set. Gonna see if i can get in good with the guy so he can put in the MR suspension into my car and they will just write it off as a warranty replacement. Wish me luck on that

Stay tuned for more updates and pics. Oh my local mitsu had the new 06 eclipse looks pretty bad *** but its basically a 2 door galant but the headlights are sick!!! nice car but it will never be an evo!

This is the deal. there are people running 255's on on rims that are lowered...with 8.5" rims with 30 offset. One key element is not all tires are the same width just because they are 245 or 255. I truly believe that not all rim offsets are exactly as others are....although this is just speculation....as diff. rim manufacturers could vary a little from anothers that had the "same" 30 offset.

If I were you I would just get fender rolled.

Well my problems have been solved im getting a set of 235/40/18 for the g-games 77W 18x8.5 +30 if these still rub ill just flip out and randomly beat the hell outta some honda rice burner just cuz they **** me off. damn summer is almost here and my rims are still in the basement it kills me but you gotta love these tire companies and their inconsistent products.

oh well you live and you learn this thread can now be put to rest, but not untill i get the wheels on one last time and get pics for you guys.

I had 245/40's and only had rubbing int he front. I have 235's now and haven't had any problems. Even when I lowered my car with S-Tech's it didn't rub in the rear.
