Ive been have a random intermittent vibrating for a while. I had the same problem a while back and found out it was my rotors being warped. I bought new rotors and new pads and it didnt really solve the issue but just made it less noticeable.

I just jacked up my car to do the wheel bearing and tie rod test. holding the wheel at 12 and 6 and shaking didnt move the wheel at all...but when i shook it from 9 and 3 both wheels moved about 1/8 to 1/16 of an inch back and forth while making a small clunking noise... I dont see it leaking any grease from the outer tie rod ends either. Is this small but noticeable movement the inner tie rods being bad and needing to be replaced? Also i get a clunking sound sometimes when im reversing out of my driveway and turning the steering wheel at the same time.

Also if the tie rods are bad and causing a vibration could that warp the rotors again? It feels like my rotors might be warped again also because when i come to a slow stop and i lightly have my foot on the pedal i can feel what feels like the rotor catching every revolution..

I presume ur wheels are in good condition and uve done ur alignment.
Most likely its the front rotors being warped. How new are your rotors? Try to get them skimmed and see how it goes

I'm going to say your rotors aren't warped now and weren't before. Tie rod would not warp rotors, anyways.

the first time they were warped. My friend works at a shop and it took 6 passes to make them even again...and then they were beyond their life... but this time i dont know. When you shake the wheel holding it at 3 and 9 there should be ZERO play correct?

Go to a proper shop. Have them check all tie-rods. There should be no play in the wheel. But with the wheel up you could have been moving the whole assembly.

Yes, worn tie-rods will cause the wheel to shake like "warped" rotors. If a tie-rod fails, it will rip the wheel off the car (aka dangerous).

Alright. Thanks for the advice..ill be getting it to a shop this week...

If a tie rods are worn, will steering will shake at speeds >60 mph ? or at any speed ?

Im not sure but for me its most noticeable after 65mph..and also when i WOT it a lot then just cruise it seems toshake more..

any update on this? got the same issue with my evo 5!

no movement at 12 & 6 O clock, but about the same as what your experiencing at 9 & 3 oclock.

I live in japan, was going to take it upto mitsu tomoz and get them to put it on the hoist, problem is i have coilovers so they may turn me away and the language barrier doesnt help! haha

any update would be awesome.

I actually look at everything again..when i was shaking the wheel it was actually the steering wheel that was moving so i was essentially moving the whole steering rack... Once i had someone in my car hold the steering wheel i didnt get any more movement. I went to the shop and they realigned it, cut my front rotors and rebalanced all of my wheel... that fixed the vibrations...

From your description it sounds like you have a wheel bent or most likely out of balance.

Yeah im thinking mine will be lower control arm bushes or tie rod ends with a enogh slack in them.

its done a bit of track work so i wouldnt be suprised...
