BFG KDW stats

I'm looking at the stats on Tirerack.com and I'm confused...

235/45-17 KDW have
section width: 9.3" tread width: 7.5"
245/45-17 KDW have
section width: 9.6" tread width: 9"

What the heck is the difference between these two to create such a small tread width in 235 compared to the 245. If they are similar in design and just sized different should they have a similar tread width (8.7" for the 235)?

Haven't forgotten about ya, just took a while for the answer. Well, the data we had was incorrect. When speaking with our Dunlop rep they said,

I called our Consumer Relations dept because they have access to more technical information than I do. I am being told that we do not give tread widths, because they change when loaded.

So If they wont disclose the actual tread width, I really cant say for sure what it is. Sorry for the confusion.
