Probably your pads are worn down.

Mine did the same thing. The outer pad was wearing uneven. I replaced them both front and rear with Project MU NS pads. I am very happy with the results. Just to let you all know STI pads are the exact same as ours.

REPLACE THEM QUICKLY!!!!!!

I decided to be a dumbass and wait until i could get a set of endless pads. BIG MISTAKE. I ended up needing new rotors by the time i got the endless pads. (even though WORKS got them to me in a hurry)

How many miles do you have on your car? If your getting new pads get the Ferrodo DS2500's there are great pads.

I had a similar noise coming from the passenger rear. I too was thinking it was a brake problem, but it just didn't make sense that it was only on the passenger rear, and I only have 9k miles on the car. I pulled the tire off and there was a great deal of rust on the rotor, where it contacts the wheel, and on the backside of the wheel hub. Additionally, I had 3 lug nuts that were not tight enough!!! I wire brushed all of the rust off, and put some brake grease on the area where the rotor makes contact with the wheel and where the wheel centers on the hub. I reinstalled the wheel and torqued it to spec (I curse lazy people with their air wrenches!)

This seems to have stopped the noise, so I am glad I didn't fork over money for new pads.

i have 15k on my car and i jsut started hearing a grinding noise yesterday. Im wondering if these pads go that quickly?

i will have to inspect the brakes this weekend when it stops raining. This is troublesome. My tires are gone at 14k my clutch gone at 12k and now my rear brake pads gone at 15K.

WHEN WILL IT END!!

hehe oh but i love to press the happy pedal.

you guys need to replace those brakes quickly

unfortunatly like everything else on the EVO there not cheep

If you don't change them quickly you will wear out the rotor and the caliper

If you live SoCal I know a good place to get them replcaced and at a good price

Watchout,

Let us know what you find out about the metal flakes. I am almost wondering if it has something to do with the parking brake.

This happened to me last week. Both rears are squeaking like crazy!!! I'm just over 20k. I was really suprized to hear both at the same time, and no warking squeaks. Now it is all the time. Waiting for new pads to arrive before I drive it. Sucks!!!!
