Fixing rotors with uneven transfer material, quick question
When using sandpaper or garnet paper to smooth out rotors that have transfer material on them, do the calipers need to be removed or can I rotate the rotors and continue working? What else should I know prior to doing this? I know how to make a new layer of material on the rotors already. I was gonna put this in timzcat's thread but I don't want to gunk it up. Any input is appreciated. Thanks.

Its gonna be kind of hard to get to the back of the rotor. When I had this problem I ended up turning about .002 inch off the rotors, breaking in the rotors with a few hundred easy miles on stock pads, then switching to Ferodo 2500's.
The only problem I had was getting the Ferodo's to bed in on the streets. I couldn't get the brakes hot enough. It took a track session where I got the pads hot enough to start fading (They will be smoking a bit, thats ok) then drove around the paddock without using the brakes till everything had cooled off. I now have absolutely no brake problems. No fade. No squeel. No pad transfer problems.
