How hot do the calipers get...

...under hard braking? Has someone used an infrared temp sensor/meter on the brake calipers after hard braking? I need to know if the Brembo calipers can withstand the temps of a powdercoating oven without damaging the internal and external rubber seals. I have emailed Brembo directly, but they have not responded. I know there are low temp powdercoats and hightemp powdercoats with the lowtemp being around ~150degF and the hightemp being around ~400degF. I'd like to use the lowtemp, but if the calipers get hotter than that under braking then the powdercoat will not last long.

Brembos

My brembos on my Evo turned a maroon/brown after an event at VIR with two of us driving it. That was the 7th DE in the car with two two people driving so in reality it was 14 DE events or more because we are in the top two run groups and the car does not cool off between sessions. No fade but the calipers do not stop as well as some Brembos on Porsches that I have driven. Also from initial reaction to StopTech brakes on my other Evo I believe the StopTechs will be much more effective on the track

Just got off the phone with an engineer at Brembo. He told me that the seals can NOT withstand powdercoating ovens. He suggested having them painted by a professional...

Guess Im stuck painting my calipers like the civic-boys! I would polish them, but Im not all that into the Bling! factor and a "brushed" finish would look like **** after the brakedust settled into them

Thanks Brembo for making yet another inferior product!

Well mine get hot enought to boil water off or at the very least very quickly evaporate it, so you could say I observed the tempreature as opposed to measuring the tempreature.

water boils at 100degF...Im not trying to be a punk, but boiling water is not exactly an accurate system for measurement! I guess I'll have to borrow, rent, or steal a pyrometer and measure the temp myself.

I think you mean 100˚C? Which equals = 212˚F
