245/45/17......rub POLL

Who has used 245/45/17 on their evo?
-rub or NO rub?
-model of tire
-is your evo lowered or stock height? If lowered, by how much?
-if your tires have rubbed, under what circumstances did it rub? (for example: did you have the stearing wheel turned all the way) And, at what speed? (parking lot speed vs. track racing, etc.)

Falken 245/45/17 on stock rims with Tanabe GF210 springs. No rubbing in normal driving or on a road race track. On one autocross course, the right front rubbed on the inner fender well on a very tight turn to the left with the suspension fully loaded and at full steering lock. The lining was completely worn through after 4 runs.

I don't think this is a big deal. That kind of situation is not going to turn up very often, even on an autocross course!

Thanks.

What about a 245/45/18 on an 18x8 inch wheel (in the khoms ASXs)? Would the 18s be more likely to rub?

I now see that 245/45/18 would certainly be too large.....but what about 245/40/18s?

I read a post about 245/40/18s rubbing with 18x9 or even 18.5 but what about 18s? Is there any downside to choosing an 18 wheel for a 245/40/18 tire? Thanks

I have Kuhmo 712s in 245/45/17 and with the Hotchkis springs they do rub while turning very tight corners at low speeds, and while turning with the suspension compressed. Its very rare though. I will go with a different size for the track though. By the way I am running a 17x8 wheel with 28 offset

Thanks idriveawhitevo. Pardon my ignorance, but do the springs that you have increase or decrease the amount of clearance the tires have? In other words, would my Khomo 245/25/17s (that I just ordered) be more or less likely to rub with my stock setup vs with your non-stock setup? Thanks. -Chris
