Brake pads

Hey guys. I'm new to the forums. I just bought a 2005 Evo.

I have a question: Breaks are squeaking really badly, and I'm curious as to why this is happening. Has this happened to anybody else? Is it because of the metallic brake pads?

Any feed back is very appreciated. Thank you so much.

uh, it's happend new, and when i had them replaced, it's because they're Brembo brakes, is it cold where you are? Anyway, what I've heard is just to let these wear out and replace them with a set of Ferodo FS2500....correct me if I'm wrong, anyone

We have had a few reported cases like this - I recommend trying the suggestions posted here:
http://www.raceshopper.com/tech.shtml#brake_squeak

Also keep in mind that the Brembo setup on the EVO's is pretty much a full race setup - with the exception of using 1 piece rotors. Race car drivers don't care about a brake squeak. This isn't to make an excuse- but more importantly to say that with certain performance enhancements- there will be a always be somewhat of a 'down side'. Be happy about the fact that Mitsubishi had the guts to produce a car with components like this.

of course if you have not done anything to your car you might just tell the dealer's shop to "fix it".

why not? it's a new car, the stock pads didn't squeek on my evo.
once you have gone aftermarket on something on your car it won't be so easy to get the dealer to do anything under warranty, so get it while you can.

if the car is new and unmodded...bring it back to the dealer to look at. The pads should not be loud at all...can always use some anti squeal on them to quiet them down. Yes the Evo has great brakes...but they are nowhere close to "race" - especially the pads
