Brake Pad Test Case:

Hello to all the EVOM members and you track junkies.....

We are looking for a test subject (person) to test a prototype set of pads for us.
Please note that the statements below do not reflect any opinion - good or bad - relating to the manufacturers or brands that may be mentioned. They are merely provided to help you understand and to make your own assessment.

A little background:
As you well know - the brake componenets on the EVO's can be rather expensive.
We have been working closely with a large manufacturer of brake friction to develop pads for the EVO that would work well for street and limited track duty.
This would be a material that would be similar to say the Ferodo DS2500.
Something that would have a high cold-friction, linear torque curve throughout it's temperature range (say up to 1000F), and be medium dust.
In our estimation - it would be higher in friction than EBC Green and Hawk HPS- and have a higher operating temperature.
This material is NOT designed to be a full race pad. I can't stress this enough!
This material is NOT meant to compete with full race pads like Ferodo DS3000, PFC97, Hawk Blue 9012, etc, etc...

Having a dedicated set of Street pads AND Race pads is always the best.
However, we realize that many people are not willing to make this type of commitment- and are looking for a product that can do 'double-duty' per se.
Something that works well on the street- at low temperature- and still performs reasonably well in a 'track-day' type of situation....
This is our goal with the material in question.

The Qualifications:
Having told you what we want to accomplish..... what we are seeking is something of an anomaly.... We're looking for the type of person who is a brake 'junkie':

-Someone who uses their vehicle in both street and track situations and demands near-optimum performance in both situations.
-Someone who has tested all (or nearly) all of the pads available on the market in both street and track environments.
-Someone who understands that factual DATA is more important than objective opinion and hearsay.
-Someone who can provide feeedback data such as: relative stopping power and friction in both low and high temperature environments.
-Someone who can provide QUANTITATIVE data in terms of rotor and pad temperatures using a pyrometer (probe type optimally), relative friction, pedal feel, and general user-friendliness. This would be accomplished by testing this product in a head-to-head type assessment on the same track, under the same conditions, against other brake pads.

Now on to the important stuff! FREE STUFF!!
If you feel that you can provide us with this type of feedback- and can do so within the next 30 days or so.....

We've got some FREE Brake pads for you to test!

One caveat- our choice will be determined first-and-foremost by the person who responds with the most comprehensive and qualified proposal. You should be prepared to tell us things like:
1) What brake pads you have already used.
2) What track you will be testing these on.
3) How you plan on quantifying your test results to us and drawing comparisons to the other pads.

If, after reading this, you feel you've 'got what it takes'- Send me an e-mail.
We'll make arrangements and send you out the pads - no charge.
We have a few sets available - so don't worry if you're not the first person to read this - we'd like to assemble this information from a few different sources.
Please do not be offended if you are not one of the 'chosen few'.....

Best Regards,
Edwin Robinson.
