Suspension Upgrade Progression
Suspension Upgrade Progression
I'm going to sink money into performance upgrades first then suspension but I need to do something about the push. I am going to get a rear sway first.
I understand coilovers are the eventual way to go. However, with coilovers, would one keep the front and rear sways? How about the other parts (forgive my crap memory and ignorance) that are available to rigid-up the front end? trunk bar?
I'm just wondering if I get rear and front and the other suspension parts and THEN coilovers whether the prior purchases are toast. It seems to me they'd all be used together eventually, yes???
Thanks!

If you don't want to risk spending money twice, I'd recomend figuring out who's suspension you want to end up with first. Unless you're very knowledgable about this stuff it will probably save you time and money in the long run to talk with a suspension tuner and get swaybars that are set up to use with their entire package.
I know John at RRE (also now available through Burschur), Vishnu, and a few other vendors offer "package" solutions that you might be able to install in stages. I ended up buying a stand alone set of coilovers instead of going the package route, and it has taken alot of effort to get them sorted.

Some people subscribe to the school of thought that bars are used to fine tune. I would agree. I would start with the coil over method and wring out as much efficiency as you can out of them. Of course you would do this my using a good tuner and lots of hands on testing. From there, THEN move on to sway bars.
Of course I've been through this same conversation before so shortly there will be vendors in this thread telling you that you need it all NOW. What the vendors need is a paycheck, what you need is to figure out what exactly it is that you do need. Doing good so far with the push problem.
Lets get to specifics here. When are you getting "push" and what are the details like is this on a track, tires you're using, etc...
I've also read somewhere that people are getting good results with a stiffer front bar. I could only guess this is keeping the front tires within the sweet spot of the dynamic camber curve. This is where the testing comes into place.
Does anyone know if the Evo outside wheels gains negative camber or loses neg camber during compression?

It's autocrossing on Kumhos. I'd like to get rid of the understeer. I understood the rear bar was the ticket.
I'd like to get the ride sorted out better so passengers don't mind it so much - that's the final goal. But I will NOT give up autocross/road course handling. I've not been on a road course but want to get there someday.
Thanks!

definatly look into the package deals with the mentioned tuners above. email them what you are looking for and they can set the car up for you. for a cost of course. but it would save you time and you ll get excatly what you want
