Omnipower Coilover Issues
Ive had these coilovers for a little over 2000 miles and so far i've loved them. Today I noticed there was a popping sound coming from the front passenger strut when cruisng at speeds below 50mph (or at least above 50mph you couldnt hear it). I also get it real bad when I turn into my driveway. There is a little incline I have to go up and it doesnt make any of the popping noise until the passenger tire is up on the driveway and the driver side is about to go up driveway (i come in at a angle, passenger side first then driver side). Seems like when weight is taken away from that side it makes the noise and then when the weight transfers back over it makes popping sound again.
I jacked up car and pulled off tire and checked everything real good. Well at first we noticed on top of the spring the rubber had gotten out of place and the spring was hitting metal. We put it back on top of the spring so there was something between the shock and the spring, didnt change anything. Put tire back on and I opened the passenger door. Looking like a fool as I was jumping in my door jam I could hear that popping noise again. This time we decide to pull the top 19mm bolt off the top of the shock and investigate. Took if off and found nothing at all, put it back on and of course no change in noise.
Ive come to the conclusion that its the piston inside the shock, I think it might have a bad bearing in it or something. Sounds like the piston is moving back and forth and the noise I hear is the piston in the shock making contact with the shock. If anyone has any input on this please post anything up cause im lost. Im going to call the place I bought them from and see if they will send me one new shock.
Thanks for reading.
