Springs ISSUE!!! Question...

I installed Hotchkis lowering springs last night with my buddies help from 9:00 to midnight. Well on the last wheel (front left), after our minds were fried, the car makes a "popping" noise when I turn the wheel from wheel lock to wheel lock.

Is this the spring trying to "seat" itself? Is this the bolts on the "arms"? Anyone? I'm gonna redo the instal tonight but just want to know what to look for. The car drives fine otherwise, with no noticeable problems (high/low speed) - just wheel lock is when the "pop" "crack" "crack" happens...

I just e-mailed doliver. Hopefully, someone can help a brother out. By the way, these springs are wicked in terms of improved handling

I love the handling! It sounds like the springs are moving around. Let me know what they say.

Did you attempt to re-install/re-seat the spring? B/c I hope that, that's the only problem. I'm just dreading using the spring compressors again. My hands look like burger after doing my install and my buddies a day ago...

It sounds to me like you did not seat the spring properly in the perch and it is trying to rotate. You should check all four and make sure they are placed how they should be. Sometimes they have a tendency to rotate as you tighten the top of the unit down and don't line up right.

I haven't had the time to do that yet. (working two jobs to support my habit)

Thats what I was thinking too but does it harm the car if left alone? Or will it eventually pop in place? I might redo it again this sunday.

I don't think it'll cause much harm - just annoying. We all need alignments however...

True...won't cause harm; just at low speeds in parking lots turning and backing out. Getting the same pop...bong noise from my front right with Eibach springs. Think MOST Lancers with lowering sus have the same noise. Good luck with the troubleshooting... I just gave up with mine; have to just deal with it.

I don't know much about alignments but what effect does that do to your car? Mines a daily driver.
